If you are in Krabi or Phuket or planning to go to Thailand, a day trip to Phi Phi island is must. In my opinion, this is the best day trip that you can do in Thailand. These islands are a group of small islands near Krabi, and you can also avail of of this trip from Phuket as well, but I chose to book it from Krabi as I was staying there. This blog will walk you through everything you need to know about this adventure, including how you can book, what the cost is, what activities you can enjoy on this trip, and why I call this day trip the best of all in Thailand.
This full day excursion is not just a visit to Phi Phi Island, in this day trip, i visited Monkey Island and Bamboo Island as well, although different companies offer different routes and itineraries.
The cost of the Trip
The cost of the trip varies depending on the company and services you choose, but I booked my trip through Klook.com, which cost me 2350 Baht (around 68 USD). This price includes hotel pick-up and drop-off, entry tickets to national parks, complementary snacks, a buffet lunch, snorkeling with gear, and endless breathtaking views.
Journey Begins
The day started around 8am when a van picked me up from the hotel. From there, we were taken to the jetty, where we were also provided with complementary snacks before boarding the boat. Then, almost after 50 minutes, we reach Maya Bay. This place is just incredible, also famous for the Hollywood movie, The Beach. Surrounded by big limestone cliffs and clear waters. Maya Bay is place of incredible beauty, which you have to see to believe.
Phi Lay Bay: A spot for Perfect Picture
Just on the short ride from Maya Bay, our boat reached this place, which is a cove with crystal clear water and mesmerizing limestone formations. The boat stops here for 20 minutes, giving everyone on board the opportunity to capture an unforgettable picture and soak themselves in this breathtaking place.
Snorkeling Time and Monkey Island
Next, just after 15 minutes, we reach at a spot where we do snorkeling and explore the vibrant marine life. The water is clear, with lot of colorful fish. From here, we moved to Monkey Island, though it was officially closed by the government. Still, they stopped the boats nearby so the tourists could watch the monkeys, as they came close to the water and boats, hoping for food from the tourists.
Time To explore Phi Phi Island
Then our journey is toward the main island, Phi Phi island which is quite big and bustling island compared to others. On this island, you will find plenty of resorts, restaurants, and cafes. We are also served here with the buffet lunch and after that, we have almost an hour to explore or rest on the island. Despite of being crowded, this island is no doubt beautiful, lush green, and surrounded by beaches and water.
Bamboo Island and Snorkeling Again
After spending almost 90 minute on the Phi Phi island, we headed towards another snorkeling spot just 10 minutes away. Here the water is more shallow, which is best for snorkeling, and it is surrounded by picturesque views.
Then our final stop was Bamboo Island, a quiet and beautiful island without any transport or hotels here, just a few snack shops. On this beach, you can truly enjoy the nature and surroundings in its pure form, with a clean and beautiful beach, dense jungle, and the sound of the waves. And we are lucky, as the weather on that day is perfect, cloudy, and cool, making the experience even more enjoyable.
The Reason I call this Day trip The Best In Thailand
This day trip is no doubt unforgettable, offering the perfect blend of nature, adventure, and relaxation. Whether you are a nature lover, an adventure enthusiast, or someone who loves exploring marine life, this trip is for everyone. And as you see in the pictures, the beauty of these islands is no doubt unparalleled, which makes it the best day trip in Thailand for me, and no doubt the company from where I booked managed it well.
